About

Hello and welcome to this blog! I'm Anna, a lecturer in German at St Hugh's and St Anne's, both colleges at the University of Oxford. I finished my doctorate last year, which was on poetry about the Virgin Mary that was written in towns and cities in the late Middle Ages in France and Germany, and part of the reason I chose this topic was because I love Our Lady! I have dedicated this blog to Our Lady Seat of Wisdom, Sedes Sapientiae, as I seek her intercession for my research and hope she will continue to inspire me.

I started the blog to share some of the poems I was working on and ideas about medieval Marian devotion. Now I've finished my doctorate and got through my first full year of teaching, I'm hoping to find some more time to reflect of my reading, faith, and scholarship on this blog.

You can find my faculty page here: https://www.mod-langs.ox.ac.uk/people/anna-wilmore
I'm also on twitter with the handle @seatofwisdomopn
